Botanical map prints

Most map prints are about streets. Botanical is not. It draws land in sage, parks and woodland in forest green, water in a soft green-blue, and roads in pale lines that sit underneath all of it. The effect is that a place is described by what grows in it.

That makes it the wrong style for a dense city centre, where the greenery is a few squares and the interest is in the street pattern. Blueprint or Linework do that better. Botanical is for places where the green is the point.

Where it works

Green neighbourhoods. A suburb read as its parks and gardens instead of its road layout. Places that feel green to live in usually look green from above, and this is the style that shows it.

Countryside and farmland. Field boundaries, woodland blocks and the lanes between them. A village becomes a small interruption in a pattern of fields, which is roughly what a village is.

Lakes and river valleys. Water in green-blue against sage land, with the woodland that tends to follow a watercourse coming through clearly.

What it does not show

None of our six drawn styles print street names. That is deliberate — a map poster covered in labels reads as a document rather than as a picture, and at 30 × 40 cm the labels would be too small to use anyway. If you want the name of a street on the poster, put it in the caption underneath.

If you want the real texture of a landscape — actual trees, actual fields, actual colour as photographed — that is Satellite, not Botanical.

On paper

Every print is made after it is ordered, on 200gsm uncoated matte paper, and ships rolled and unframed. Matte matters for this style in particular: the greens are flat and close together in tone, and a gloss finish would throw highlights across exactly the areas that carry the detail.

Three sizes: 30 × 40 cm, 50 × 70 cm and 70 × 100 cm. The caption reads best at 50 × 70.

We print through Gelato, whose network makes each poster in or near your own country. Within Sweden and Germany their current estimate is 4–7 days; we quote the upper end, because it is an estimate rather than a measured time. We do not offer rush production.

Shipping is 69 kr inside Sweden and €6 elsewhere in the EU. We deliver to the EU only at the moment.
